7 Things To Collect For Your Quirky D.I.Y Wedding In Malta

By April 9, 2018 No Comments

D.I.Y or “Festival Style” Weddings are becoming increasingly popular all over the world, and Malta and Gozo is no exception. With a fresh, fun and relaxed aesthetic, we can see why! Here are just a few things you can collect in advance to get that Pinterest worthy aesthetic for your own wedding reception.

1. Jars

You can collect all sorts of glass jars to be cleaned and used in a multitude of ways to decorate your wedding party. They can be painted or left clear and used for everything from holding flowers to tea light candles to light up the walkways of your venue!

2. Old Photographs

If you have any cute old photographs of you and your fiancee, why not get some printed and pinned or pegged to a wooden board at the entrance of the wedding reception? Or how about purchasing a Guestbook and pasting them in for your guests to look through before signing with regards? Cute!

4. Pom-poms

Bunting and pom-pom garlands are just so fun and brighten up green areas when hung from tree branch to tree branch or used to decorate a table of food or spice up your cocktail and drinks station! We love this oversized rainbow one.

5. Driftwood & “Junk”

Planks of miscellaneous wood are perfect for painting on. They come in handy for creating your own wedding direction signs. If you’re hosting your wedding reception in a hard to find venue, then you can neatly paint some signs in your best hand-painted typography to let your guests know where they’re heading!

6. Frames

Frames have an absolute multitude of uses in a quirky wedding reception. They can be painted gold and used as props for fun photographs that you’ll just love uploading onto social media with the couple’s own hashtag! Don’t forget you can buy frames and back them with a thin backing of wood which you can paint with blackboard paint to create your own perfect blackboards!

7. China Teacups

There’s something about floral tea-sets that just scream “vintage pop-up”, and you can use yours instead of glasses for your gin and tonics amongst your best friends if you’re organising a hen night! You can even make candles out of vintage floral teacups with a wax candle-making kit and give them out as souvenirs for your bridesmaids!
