6 Tips for Choosing the Right Wedding Florist in Malta

By January 19, 2018 No Comments

Most of the time, floristry for weddings falls in the hands of the bride. With enough on her plate already, we thought we’d offer 6 tips to consider when shopping around for all things flowers.

We’d recommend booking a vendor (or chat with multiple florists at once through Get Hitched) with any potential florists as soon as possible. Some florists’ work can take days to prepare and as a result some florists will only take one wedding order a week.

1. The Early Bird Catches the Best Florist

Once you have your date and venue sorted, reach out to one of our many florists here. Don’t worry if you don’t have your dress yet, Get Hitched can help with that too.

2. Say What You See

We’re sure you’ve already got a rough idea of what you’re looking for from your florist. However, crafting a visual aid can be a big help to both you and any potential florist you might have on board. They can also help to solidify your decisions and choices.

Be sure to provide your florist with any inspirational images or concepts you might have – make sure they’re seeing the same things for your wedding as you are.

3. Think Seasonally

Okay, so Malta generally has over 300 days of sunshine regardless of the seasons. That doesn’t mean you can’t draw inspiration from the four of them. Think of fragrant blossoms for a spring theme, bright sunflowers if you’re leaning in for the Summer months…

Each season offers different vegetation, fruits, berries, flowers and branches. The possibilities are endless, but taking a seasonal approach can help create a unique floral spread for your wedding.

4. Planning a Themed Wedding?

It’s super important to determine if you’re having a themed wedding or not beforehand. The theme will serve as a backbone for all other details to then stem from. If you’re planning a themed wedding you can also have a look at our blog for some inspo!

5. Say Yes to the Dress

While most brides at this point would have an idea of their dress in the back of their mind (or might even have their dress sorted already), discussing any of the above points with a potential florist can help inspire you with an idea of the type of ensemble you’d like.

For example, you might be really keen on incorporating French Meadow Parsley in your wedding, the florist might suggest a lace addition to either your wedding dress or your decor.

6. Be You, Be Unique

A lot of brides will always say the same thing when it comes to wedding floristry.

“I’ve seen it all before…”

By suggesting something different, you are allowing the florist to showcase their artistry in a much more intimate manner. And, it’s all about the smaller added touches when it comes to the biggest day of your life.
