8 Summer Weddings Do’s and Don’ts in Malta

By January 6, 2020 No Comments

There are endless upsides to a summer wedding, along with a don’t or two, so here’s a combination of both to bear in mind when planning a wedding in Malta.

1. DO send save the dates early

If you’re planning to get married in Malta during the summer, make sure you send the save the dates out early. We’re talking peak holiday season here and people book their holidays well in advance; give everyone plenty of notice so that they can plan around the big day.

2. DO enjoy more choice of venue

The beauty of getting married in Malta in the summer is that the prospect of better weather opens up a world of venue potential that just wouldn’t work for winter. Marquees and garden parties, Malta has summer wedding venues galore so take advantage and consider all options.

3. DON’T bank on perfect weather

Outdoor weddings in Malta are glorious, especially in some of the natural green spaces on the city’s doorstep. However, the weather tends to err on the side of unpredictable. Make sure you have a contingency plan in place, just incase the sun isn’t on your side.

4. DON’T forget the sunscreen

In the flurry of activity and excitement that is your wedding morning, sun cream is probably the last thing on your mind. However, sunburnt shoulders and sore skin won’t just ruin the wedding photos, it’ll also get your honeymoon off to an uncomfortable start the next morning!

5. DON’T go too heavy on the food

Malta weddings during the summer call for relaxed dining rather than hearty meals. Save the roast dinner for another day and choose lighter fayre for your wedding food. Also, bear in mind the temperatures if you’re planning on having an outdoor buffet; warm food is never as appealing as fresh!

6. DO dress for summer

One of the biggest things to bear in mind for your summer wedding in Malta is dressing for the weather. If you have your heart set on a princess-style full frock, consider a second, more lightweight dress for the reception so you can dance the night away without sweating buckets.

7. DO keep a fan handy

It’s one of the biggest tips from wedding makeup artists; keep your handheld fan close. Makeup on the big day tends to be a little heavier for photographs and that doesn’t always work so well with hot weather. A fan will keep you cool, calm and collected.

8. DO create suncare kits for guests

The excitement of getting everyone ready for a wedding means things get overlooked or left behind by guests in the rush. Fill a wicker basket with a suncare kit such as sun cream, cheap sunglasses, flip flops, water mist spray and a sun hat or two.
