A great bachelorette’s party doesn’t need to break the bank. With what the Maltese Islands have to offer, you can enjoy quality time with your closest pals without having to even step foot on an airplane.
Save the travel costs for the big day itself and impress your besties with something a little out of the ordinary. Here are just a few ideas that might inspire you to go fabulously wild or keep it low-key and classy for your hen party- as the bride to be, the choice is entirely yours!
1. Vintage Photo Shoot
Why save dressing up for one day only? Hiring a quality photographer has never been easier, and you can even get a stylist and vintage clothing store on board to get you camera-ready and all set for your close up. The 1950s is decade well-loved for its iconic poodle skirts and gingham blouses, and Malta and Gozo have many retro bars that would be just perfect for a vintage inspired photoshoot! Always check with the premises before to see if they’ll be on board, or you could always stage a shoot in the great Gozitan countryside. A fun afternoon like this is bound to have your hen party guests in fits of giggles, and they’ll have the photographic memory to take home and treasure!
2. Bingo Night Out
Possibly the most economical of ideas but certainly not boring. Find the most traditional bingo hall you can and make a date with the girls to head on down for a night full of laughter. There’s nothing stopping you from having a few cocktails beforehand and you can even dress up for the occasion. Setting a theme for your hen party is always a fun idea and is sure to get your guests excited about the date. Think outside the box- you can dress up as Hollywood movie stars, 1920s Flapper girls or in the case of Bingo, why not raid some charity shop rails and go as your own version of an older lady- floral dresses, pearls and lipstick at the ready!
3. Karaoke Queens
Go all out glam for the night and head down to Bugibba for a boogie night to remember. You can start your evening on the bumping cars which should lighten the mood enough for you to get excited about belting out all the classics at a Karaoke bar! Come prepared with a list of tunes you’d like to sing to save you wracking your brains after a few too many Pina Coladas. Beyonce and Abba are always sure to get the vocal chords warmed up, and don’t forget Lady Marmalade and perhaps even a few Disney soundtrack classics! For added glitz and glamour, why not leave the transport down to a limo driver who’ll make sure you arrive in style and exit like celebs.
4. Life Drawing
This is a great option for hen groups who might not know each other too well, or an art-loving bride who’d like to get her friends together for something a little different. An art class is also suitable for hen do’s including mothers and relatives of the groom that you might not really want to let your hair down in front of – you’ve got this far in convincing them you’re their little darling’s soul mate so you might not want to go all out in their presence, but that’s not to say it won’t be fun! A nude model is bound to get a few hearts racing without opting for a stripper! Who knows, your guests might even discover a hidden talent, and will be able to keep their sketches to remind them of your quirky get-together.
5. Pamper Party
Take the stress out of the build up to your big day and book yourself and your friends in for a long weekend of pampering and relaxation. There are some amazing spas and hotel packages that cater for groups, or you can even bring the treatments to your door and make use of mobile beauticians or masseurs who will show up right on your doorstep at whatever farmhouse or luxury pad you’ve chosen for the occasion! Why not hire a personal chef one night to cook up a gourmet storm for you and your guests? Don’t forget the nailpolish, popcorn and all your favourite DVDs for the other girly nights in!
6. Eco Holiday
Gozo is an amazing destination for an outdoorsy bride-to-be. There are plenty of holistic retreats and outdoor yoga classes which will be sure to leave you feeling zen and give you some much-needed relaxing headspace. Why not look into horse riding packages where your guests will get the chance to try something new whilst discovering the beautiful countryside together? Gozo is also home to wineries and independent farms where you can make the most of the scenery whilst trying out all sorts of delicious local produce. Cooking courses for groups are a great way to wind down and enjoy nature, with the added bonus of lunch in a gorgeous Mediterranean setting.
